International Education Week is November 10-16, 2013!
International Education Week (IEW) is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Departments of State and Education was first held in 2000 and today, is celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide.
More resources and information will be added as International Education Week approaches.
Below are the scheduled events for International Education Week 2013
Ancestor of the popular ice hockey and golf, Shinty (also called Camanachd) is an outdoor game played for centuries in Scotland with a leather ball and a curved stick on a soccer-like field size and following similar rules. Shinty was recently imported in the USA, where a couple of clubs have emerged across the States over the last 15 years.
Since its creation 2 years ago in Merced by Steve Aitchison, the club president, and some UC Merced graduate students, the young Central California Camanachd Club has grown in ability with participating members from different horizons: UC Merced and Merced College students, business owners and employees.
It will be with a strong enthusiasm and pleasure that we would introduce Shinty to UC Merced broad audience with a game of about 1 hour between our players. Perhaps at the end of the game, we could also initiate its practice to anyone interested in playing Shinty.
