Critical Language Scholarship Deadline

The CLS Program is part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages. Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply. Participants are expected to continue their language study beyond the scholarship period, and later apply their critical language skills in their future professional careers.
Each summer, CLS provides rigorous academic instruction in fifteen languages essential to America’s engagement with the world. CLS participants are citizen ambassadors, sharing American values and promoting American influence abroad.

Rhythms of Cuba with Carlos Caro

Grammy winner Carlos Caro, a Cuban percussionist who has collaborated with Eddie Palmieri, Carlos Santana and Sheila E.--just to name a few--will lead an exciting demonstration and discussion of the instruments and rhythms of Cuba. Carlos received his degree from the renowned Escuela Nacional de Instructores de Arte (ENIA) in Havana, and was named "Best Bongo Timba Player of All Time" by www.timba.com.

The Society of the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) and prospective members of Omega Delta Phi, Inc. will be hosting a large game of Lotería (Spanish for 'lottery', and similar to Bingo). Grab a tabla full of traditional, colorful images and try your luck! SACNAS will also be sharing scholarship opportunities for Chicanos/Hispanics, Native Americans and African American students. Light refreshments provided.

If you have academic procrastination, have you ever wondered why it happened, and how to deal with it to boost your academic productivity? Come to this 75-minute workshop to discover the myth of academic productivity as well as the practical strategies that can help you combat academic procrastination. This workshop is specifically geared towards international students navigating the American university system who want to stay on top [and ahead] of their academic schedules. Offered by Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and Psychologist Dr. Shao Li.
