Garett Gietzen

Garett Gietzen serves as UC Merced's Senior International Officer and is responsible for a range of activities that contribute to campus internationalization, with particular focus on study abroad and international student and scholar services. He was previously Assistant Director for International Partnerships at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and employed in a variety of international and academic affairs positions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Garett earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and master’s degrees in history and library and information science, and a PhD in educational policy studies, all from UIUC. His research interests include student mobility, inter-institutional collaboration and the politics of internationalization.
