As Director of the Office of International Affairs, Garett Gietzen is responsible for a range of activities that contribute to campus internationalization, including study abroad and international student and scholar services. He was previously Assistant Director for International Partnerships at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and employed in a variety of international and academic affairs positions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Garett earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and master’s degrees in history and library and information science, and a PhD in educational policy studies, all from UIUC. His research interests include student mobility, inter-institutional collaboration and the politics of internationalization.
