Mission:
The mission of the Office of International Affairs (OIA) is to promote, facilitate and expand global learning and engagement opportunities for all members of the campus community in the service of the university’s larger commitment to teaching, research and public service.
OIA accomplishes this mission by providing students with education abroad experiences; supporting international students, researchers, faculty and staff with visa and related services; developing international connections to advance exchange and teaching and research collaboration; advising campus departments on regulatory matters; and organizing a variety of international programs, initiatives and events, including those that encourage belonging and community building.
Primary Service Areas:
OIA is composed of two primary service areas: 1. Study Abroad, and 2. International Students and Scholars. Each of these areas have designated staff who possess experience and expertise in their respective fields of purview. In addition, OIA serves at the campus-level resource for the Fulbright Program and works both independently and collaboratively to promote UC Merced internationally, develop partnerships with institutions abroad, and otherwise facilitate internationalization.
