International Education Week (IEW) is now International Education Month! November 2025 is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative across federal government office and international education professional organizations is an effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.

Study Abroad Fair
Study, research, intern, volunteer, teach… abroad! UC Merced's 15th annual Study Abroad Fair will take place Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in the UC Merced Conference Center, 10 am - 2 pm. Ask about study abroad programs from UCEAP to Semester at Sea. Learn about other opportunities like financial aid for international study.

Passport Ready Workshop
Thinking about studying abroad, traveling, or just keeping your options open? Don’t let the paperwork hold you back! At our Passport Ready Workshop, you’ll get everything you need to kickstart your passport application in one place:
- Free passport photos (we’ll take them for you—no Walgreens run needed)
- Step-by-step help with the DS-11 form so you don’t get lost in the fine print
- Help with appointment scheduling made with a nearby passport acceptance facility
- Ask your questions about the process—we’ll guide you through what to expect
This workshop is your one-stop shop to finally check “get my passport” off your list. Just bring a laptop (and your questions), and we’ll handle the rest.

An interactive workshop to explore how cultural values shape our communication, learning styles, and everyday experiences. We’ll dive into aspects of American culture that may be new or surprising—from social norms, workplace behavior and classroom dynamics to customs like small talk and tipping. We’ll also explore what culture shock and homesickness can look like, and share practical strategies for finding balance, building community, and celebrating your own culture while adjusting to a new one. Together, we’ll reflect on how cultural humility helps us understand others and thrive in a global environment
